Trying Out Lanemay Purple Shampoo & Conditioner on My Silver Hair š
Thereās nothing more satisfying to me than treating my silver strands to a little purple shampoo pamperingāand sharing the process with you! If youāve been following me for a while, you know Iāve been on this grey hair journey for over a decade now. The transition phase is far behind me, but keeping my silver hair looking bright and fresh? Thatās still an ongoing adventure.

Recently, Lanemay sent me their purple shampoo and conditioner set to try out (thank you, Lanemay!), and you know Iām always down to give a new product a test driveāespecially when it promises to tone brassiness.
First Impressions: Packaging, Color & Scent
Letās start with the shampoo. The color is a translucent indigoānot your typical thick, opaque purple. It actually leans more blue than violet, which got me curious about how it would affect the tone of my hair.
The scent? Absolutely lovely. It has a floral fragrance that I actually enjoyed quite a bit. The lather is impressiveāit suds up really easily, and I tend to use a generous amount just to give it a real chance to work its magic on my silver.
Surprisingly, the suds looked white instead of tinted, and when I rinsed it out, the water was very clear. That usually tells me thereās not a ton of pigment being deposited.
The Conditioner: A Different Experience
The conditioner has a soft, dusty lavender hue, and this time the scent is citrusy. Now, I found it a little odd that a matching shampoo and conditioner set would have completely different scentsāand even more curious that both tubes say āunscented.ā These products are definitely scented.
The conditioner spread beautifully through my hair and felt super hydrating. After rinsing, again, the water ran mostly clear.
Letās Talk Results
Post-wash, my hair felt soft, hydrated, and had a nice bounce to it. Honestly, the conditioner was the standout hereāit left my hair feeling great. But as far as toning power? I didnāt see much of a difference. The pigments in both the shampoo and conditioner just donāt seem strong enough to really tone yellow or brassy tones.
I also noticed that the packaging says āSLS-free,ā but when I checked the ingredients listāthere it was: Sodium Laureth Sulfate. That was disappointing and a bit misleading.
Final Thoughts
If you're looking for an intense purple shampoo that really shifts the tone of your silver hair, this one might not deliver the results youāre after. But if youāre just in the market for a lightly pigmented shampoo and conditioner that smells nice and leaves your hair feeling soft, this could be a nice treat.
As always, I appreciate getting to try new things and share my honest experience with you. Have you tried this one? Or do you have a go-to purple shampoo that actually works? Let me knowāIām always on the lookout for silver hair holy grails!
